Day 6: Suzu to Wakura

The highlight today was cycling through numerous small villages along Toyama Bay.  One village along the route went by a school and the students started cheering us on!!  I stopped to visit with these young students and it was a moving experience.

These students were curious about everything including my gear, water bottles & bike.  Not sure they have ever seen a bike like this and were touching the spokes, wheels, frame, lights etc.  As noted, this was really special and a key highlight of the trip so far.  Notice all the peace signs ✌✌

The day started with sunrise overlooking Battleship rock.

Here is the first village we cycled down towards in the morning.

Beautiful sunny morning as we cycled along Toyama Bay.

Fellow Aussie riders Cathy, Andy & Lora enjoying the scenery, weather and ride.

I sort of felt like I was cycling Michigan Shoreline West this afternoon with the blue water and gentle rolling terrain.

Another small village along the route.  One thing I have noticed is how clean things are in Japan with the exception of ocean litter that washes onto shore from other countries.

Crossed the bridge to Noto Island where we will be staying this evening.

Trouble in cycling paradise!!  Super Typhoon Hagibis is approaching Japan and may make landfall near Tokyo this weekend.  On the positive front, we will be in the Japanese Alps and on high ground.  Wisely, a decision was made to hunker down and take the day off Saturday.

Now a Typhoon. This Spring it was tornadoes, snow and sleet. Seems that riding with you attracts the worst in weather.

Having experienced a few typhoons, you may be grounded for more than one day! Sounds like most tail and air will be shutdown. Stay safe.

Stay safe! May be a good opportunity to experience some of the local culture while waiting out the weather. Enjoying your pics!

A-train I hope you folks will be staying in some good strong buildings. The winds can be deadly. Be Safe.

I am guessing that the mark the students made upon you will stay with you for the rest of your life. You probably instilled wanderlust into them as well. I liked your comparison to Shoreline West on a day you are wearing the jersey! Stay safe.

I forgot how much I love Japan. Clean, friendly, beautiful and safe. Well, safe except for the little typhoon. :-)

This trip looks amazing and I am so glad you are sharing it.
