Today we transitiond from the inland mountains to the coast and what an amazing day!! Ideal weather, Pacific Ocean vistas, a ginger harvest, surfers, fishing villages, temples and an ariel photograph of the Ashizuri lighthouse.
Thanks to Ben for the ariel photograph of the coastline and lighthouse in Ashizuri!
Be sure to check out the Relive video. I tried to capture each item in the introduction above.
Ginger harvest in progress early on the route.
We cycled along the Pacific Ocean most of the day.
We also cycled through several fishing villages along the route.
...and past surfers as well.
We ended the ride visiting a beautiful temple and Japanese garden.
Another photo at the temple.
Vista above the Ashizuri lighthouse.
Peace at the Ashizuri lighthouse. I learned on this trip the Japanese people make this V sign in pictures to show their friendliness. It also means victory and peace.
Lobby at Ashizuri Kokusai Hotel where we are spending the evening.
Dinner for each cyclist at the Ashizuri Kokusai Hotel.
Today was a leisurely day after some difficult climbs. This was probably one of the most diverse and beautiful rides I have ever done.
