Samurai Epic Tour Overview

The Samurai Epic will be a beautiful and challenging ride.  The first part of the tour explores the enchanting peninsula of Noto and the Japanese Alps.  From Honshu (the main island), we cycle to the beautiful island of Shikoku.  On Shikoku, we will cycle through the magnificent Iya Gorge, and tackle Mt Ishizuchi, which is Western Japan’s highest peak at 1,982m (6,503ft).

Here is a short Ride & Seek video from the 2018 Samurai Epic on Shikoku Island.

The tour finishes with the spectacular Shimanami Kaido; a series of suspension bridges that spans the inland sea, and links Shikoku back to Honshu.

The name “Shikoku” means “four provinces”, which refers to the island’s four prefectures—Kagawa, Tokushima, Kochi, and Ehime.  The mountains created natural barriers that separated the four provinces, keeping them fairly isolated from each other. This allowed each area to develop its own unique food culture.

The Samurai Epic tour has a good mix of traditional inns and western orientated hotels.

For this trip, I will have my own room.  Many of the hotels will have an Onsen or Japanese hot spring.  This will be a nice treat after the ride.

 Ready to start cycling!!

Hope you and your bike both have a comfortable trip.

Hi Jodie,

The SciCon bike bag worked great - no issues protecting the Roubaix. The 16 hour flight and 14 time zones ahead was a bit challenging. Ready to start cycling.
